Abstract: We would like to create an event for cities come together for an interactive global experience for our Red Bull collaborative studio.
Description: We were challenged to create a radical Red Bull experience, exploring the company spirit through events across the world. Our goal was to present a different perspective to the existing brand image. We created an installation for users to interact with each other from various exhibition spaces around the world.
Why did we use circles? 1. Mathematical: Infinity
Infinite symmetry: the circle is a symbol for infinity because the circle is endless. May also be considered a polygon with an infinite number of sides.
2. Mathematical definition for “Circle Relationships”
Apollonian gasket algorithm: In mathematics, an Apollonian gasket or Apollonian net is a fractal generated from triples of circles, where each circle is tangent to the other two.
3. Cultural: The Ring as a Symbol of Authority or Status
Comes from the use of the signet ring, one used to make an impression indicating authenticity, which goes back to ancient Greece.
4. Equality
The circular particle as a general concept can represent anyone without having specific meaning to anyone in particular.
Technical Challenge: OpenFrameworks : Open source C++ toolkit designed to assist the creative process by providing a simple and intuitive framework for experimentation.
Arduino : Open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software.
MadMapper : Video Mapping Software. Provides a simple and easy tool for mapping projections.
